Steven Finn: 'Cricket does not need to change'

England bowler Steven Finn is adamant that cricket does not need to change following the death of Australian batsman Phil Hughes last week.

England bowler Steven Finn has insisted that cricket does not need to change despite the death of Phil Hughes last week.

Hughes passed away after being struck in the neck by a bouncer while batting for the West End Redbacks in their Sheffield Shield match against the New South Wales Blues.

Finn is adamant that there is no reason to stop bowling bouncers in matches, as he believes that people have to accept that the death of the Australian batsman was simply a tragic accident.

"I'd say you'd play the way you normally do," Finn told reporters. "When you bowl a bouncer you want to keep the batsman on his toes – you don't want to severely hurt him at all.

"I don't think the game needs to change. I think we have to accept that what happened was a great tragedy and a great accident."

Finn is expected to be part of the England lineup for their third one-day international against Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
