Erron Gordon announces his exit as Good Morning Britain director at the end of the year.

Good Morning Britain director Erron Gordon has announced that he will be leaving the show at the end of the year.

The executive has been part of the team since the show launched in 2014 and has also worked on multiple other shows for ITV, including Peston and Piers Morgan's Life Stories.

Announcing his exit on Twitter, Gordon wrote: "After 13 years at @ITV and 7 as the Series Director of @GMB I am leaving the programme at the end of the year to take on an exciting new challenge.

"I've had an amazing time working with a brilliant team in front of and behind the camera and I am so proud of the programme I helped launch in 2014."

Morgan, who quit GMB earlier this year amid a row over Meghan Markle, was quick to comment on the news.

"The very best TV directors thrive off unpredictability, spontaneity & flying by the seat of their pants," he wrote.

"Loved working with Erron because the more I tried to trip him up, the more he enjoyed it. A brilliant talent and ferociously loyal colleague & friend. Huge loss for @GMB."

Gordon will take up a new role as head of studio output at Sky in the new year.
