Get to know MasterChef 2024 contestant Steve, including their age, profession and hopes for the competition.

Age: 43

From: Stoke-on-Trent

Occupation: IT Relationship Manager

Cooking Style: "I think I have multiple cooking styles. I like to attempt making fine dining desserts. I also love to put my own twist on British classics and fusing them with Asian flavours. I also like using whatever I have on hand to conjure something tasty from the simplest of ingredients and not waste food.

"I am not 100% sure where all my inspiration comes from, but over the years I have come to appreciate the styles of the creative chefs like Heston Blumenthal, or the classic British style cooking and skill of Tom Kerridge."

Why MasterChef?: "I entered into the competition because friends and family kept on telling me that my food was MasterChef-worthy. I would often sit and watch the show saying 'I could have done that!' I would also love to get John and Gregg's seal of approval, no matter how far I get in the competition.

"I think I would also like to prove to myself that irrespective of my Cerebral Palsy, I have been able to achieve another big challenge I've set for myself, which was to become a MasterChef contestant. It has helped me prove to myself that I can achieve any dream I want. I still lack confidence when it comes to my disability, but I want to show that these things shouldn't hold you back. I try to not let it hold me back from what I'm passionate about and applying for MasterChef is one of the greatest things I could have ever done."

Ambition: "I have to admit my biggest dream is to be Head Chef of a Michelin star restaurant. I would also love to be able to write a book. The thought of someone making recipes I've come up with and liking my cooking style is just mind blowing!

"Another dream would be to have my own establishment. I say just get me out there cooking for everyone!"

MasterChef continues Thursday at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
