'Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls' postponed

Channel 4 confirms that filming on the new series of Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls has been delayed due to coronavirus.

Production on the new series of Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The reality show, which dumps celebrities on a remote island and leaves them to fend for themselves, was due to start filming next month but has now been postponed as the killer disease spreads across the globe.

A source told The Sun: "The celebrities are gutted over the decision as they were set to begin filming abroad next month. It's really disappointing. It's a challenge of a lifetime, but they understand it's not worth the risk."

A Channel 4 spokesperson confirmed: "Due to the current restrictions on travel the new series of Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls will be postponed. We've made this decision with the health and well-being of those involved in making the show as our utmost priority."

Channel 4 has also confirmed that filming on the next series of The Great British Bake Off has been delayed due to COVID-19, which has claimed almost 29,000 lives worldwide so far.
