The BBC confirms that the long-awaited new series of Lord Sugar's The Apprentice will begin in the new year.

The BBC has announced that the new series of The Apprentice will begin on January 6.

The business-based reality show - overseen by Lord Sugar - has been absent from the schedules for more than two years, with coronavirus delaying filming of the 16th series, which was originally planned for spring 2020.

As UK restrictions eased up over the summer, production on the new series finally took place and now the BBC has confirmed that it will air on BBC One on Thursday nights starting from January 6.

Due to an operation, Sugar's advisor Claude Littner will take a break during the 16th series, with series one winner Tim Campbell taking his place in the boardroom alongside Karren Brady.
