Sky commissions a three-part documentary series promising an all-access glimpse into the world of elite darts.

Sky has commissioned a new three-part documentary series that promises to offer a behind-the-scenes insight into the world of darts.

The show - in the vein of Netflix's Drive To Survive and Break Point - will follow key players through their participation at major tournaments, culminating in the World Championships at Alexandra Palace.

This year has marked a huge increase in the interest in darts, with a record 4.8 million tuning in to see the world final match between 16-year-old sensation Luke Littler and fan favourite Luke Humphries last week.

Tom Barry, commissioner for Sky, said: "This year's World Championship has shown how Darts can captivate the nation.

"Going beyond just the competition, for the first time, we are thrilled to be bringing audiences closer to the action and give them a glimpse of what it takes to make it to the top."

The show - provisionally titled Darts - is due to air on Sky Documentaries later this year.
