League Two roundup: Cambridge United and Luton Town earn first wins

Sports Mole brings you a roundup of the season's opening results from League Two as Cambridge United and Luton Town win their first matches back in the Football League.

Cambridge United and Luton Town both won their first matches back in the Football League on the opening weekend of the season.

Adam Cunnington's first-half penalty miss looked to have set the tone for Cambridge, but Josh Coulson's second-half strike was enough for them to take all three points away from Plymouth Argyle at the Abbey Stadium.

Luton's first match since their promotion ended with a 1-0 win over Carlisle United, with Mark Cullen's goal after 30 minutes earning them all three points.

James Collins fought hard to earn Shrewsbury Town an away point after his opener on nine minutes was cancelled out by a Wimbledon double, but his late strike saw the spoils shared in a 2-2 draw.

Jed Wallace's strike for Portsmouth earned them a point at Exeter City, but the Pompey fans would have liked all three after looking the most likely following their response from Tom Nicholl's early set-back.

Morecambe hammered Dagenham & Redbridge 3-0 with goals from Kevin Ellison, Padraig Amond and Jack Redshaw, all in the second half at Victoria Road.

Southend United stole all three points from James Beattie's Accrington Stanley with a late penalty from former Southampton striker Lee Barnard.

Cheltenham Town edged past Bury thanks to a Joe Hanks goal just minutes before half time at Gigg Lane.

Elsewhere, Wycombe Wanderers scored two in two minutes against Newport County as Peter Murphy and Paris Cowan-Hall's goals gave them some leeway for the second half.

Mansfield Town suffered defeat to Northampton Town after Kaid Mohamed's first-half strike was enough to earn all three points for the home side.

Stevenage's Chris Whelpdale scored the only goal of the game to beat Hartlepool United 1-0 at Broadhall Way.

Tranmere Rovers secured a dramatic late equaliser against York City, after James Rowe's 90th-minute goal cancelled out Keith Lowe's 67th-minute strike.
