Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale narrowly holds off competition from Newcastle's Nick Pope to be named the Premier League Goalkeeper of the Season in the Sports Mole Readers' Awards.

Arsenal's Aaron Ramsdale has narrowly beaten compatriot Nick Pope to be named the Premier League Goalkeeper of the Season.

Ramsdale played every single minute of the season as the Gunners launched a surprise title bid, spending 248 days at the top of the Premier League table throughout the campaign.

A late stumble ultimately saw them miss out on the title to Manchester City by five points, but Ramsdale kept 14 clean sheets throughout the campaign and produced performances which led to calls for him to become England's number one.

A rival for that jersey is Newcastle United's Nick Pope, but Ramsdale won the battle between the pair in our end-of-season awards, with 28.8% of you voting for the Arsenal shot-stopper compared to 26.7% for Pope.

Pope also kept 14 clean sheets to help Newcastle post the joint-best defensive record in the division, while his tally of 32 goals conceded personally was also the joint-fewest of any regular number one goalkeeper.

Manchester City's title-winning keeper Ederson also only conceded 32 times, a contribution which earned him third place in our voting with 19.9%

Liverpool's Alisson Becker was fourth with 13.9% of the votes having kept 14 clean sheets despite an overall disappointing season for his side, while Brentford's in-demand David Raya, who made more saves than any other goalkeeper this season, rounds off the nominees in fifth.
