Chelsea 'want Denis Suarez as Cesc Fabregas replacement'

Chelsea are reportedly lining up a move for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez in January, which could in turn open the door for Cesc Fabregas to join AC Milan.

Chelsea are reportedly considering a January move for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez.

Maurizio Sarri is keen to bolster his options when the transfer window reopens next month in an attempt to secure a top-four spot and possibly challenge for the title during the second half of the season.

Calciomercato reports that Suarez is one of the players being targeted by Chelsea, with the 24-year-old Spaniard being deemed disposable by Barcelona.

Suarez could initially move to Stamford Bridge on loan, with Barca thought to be holding out for a €40m (£35.8m) fee to secure him on a permanent basis.

Any deal for Suarez could open the door for Cesc Fabregas to leave Chelsea, with AC Milan understood to be interested in the veteran playmaker.

The 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under Sarri and is eager to find more regular first-team football elsewhere.

Milan are also thought to be interested in signing Suarez from Barcelona themselves but see Fabregas as a cheaper alternative after being put off by Suarez's asking price.
