Tranmere vs. Newcastle (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Newcastle United will be looking to maintain their momentum when they face Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Cup second round on Wednesday evening.

At a time when the Magpies are unbeaten in the Premier League, Tranmere find themselves down in 17th position in League Two.

We say: Tranmere Rovers 1-4 Newcastle United

Tranmere will naturally take encouragement from Howe almost certainly making widespread changes to his starting lineup. Nevertheless, this is a united Newcastle group who will want to impress, and we are backing the Magpies to run away with this game.

Wycombe vs. Bristol City (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Wycombe Wanderers take on Bristol City in the second round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

Both sides recorded much-needed victories at the weekend so should head into this tie with plenty of confidence.

We say: Wycombe Wanderers 1-3 Bristol City

With Wycombe likely to rotate more heavily than their Championship opponents, we can envisage an away win.

Bristol City's matches usually feature plenty of goals so it should be an entertaining match either way.

Forest Green vs. Brighton (Wednesday, 7.45pm)

Forest Green Rovers host Brighton & Hove Albion in the second round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

The hosts were promoted to the third-tier of English football for the first ever time last season, while Brighton are competing in the Premier League for a sixth successive season.

We say: Forest Green Rovers 0-2 Brighton & Hove Albion

Despite being likely to change almost their entire XI, we expect Brighton to have too much quality for their opponents.

With both sides utilising 3-5-2 formations, it is unlikely to be a goal-fest, especially with the Seagulls potentially taking their foot off the gas if they can get the job done early.
