Jurgen Klopp rules out the prospect of Liverpool completing a deal for Kylian Mbappe next summer.

Jurgen Klopp has ruled out the prospect of Liverpool completing a deal for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe next summer.

Several reports have claimed that Liverpool, who made no major signings last summer, had pinpointed Mbappe as their primary target ahead of the next transfer window.

The Frenchman will reportedly consider leaving the Parc des Princes next year should the club once again fail to succeed in the Champions League.

Speaking ahead of Liverpool's meeting with Manchester City, Klopp told The Mirror: "OK, from a sporting point of view, there are not a lot of reasons to not sign Mbappe, what a player he is.

"But it is about the money of course. No chance. Absolutely no chance, sorry for killing that story. I don't think there is a club in the world that can buy Kylian Mbappe from PSG. And we are involved in that too. We cannot do it, it is as easy as that.

"We have nothing (more) to say about it to be honest, but [buying] this calibre of player is difficult."

Real Madrid have reportedly expressed keen interest in signing Mbappe, with manager Zinedine Zidane recently stating that moving to the Bernabeu would represent a "dream" for the 20-year-old.

Liverpool's reported interest in Mbappe stems from the fact that Los Blancos are said to be weighing up an approach for Mohamed Salah.
