Liverpool accept that Georginio Wijnaldum will be leaving the club when his deal expires at the end of the season, according to a report.

Liverpool have reportedly accepted that Georginio Wijnaldum will be on his way out of the club when his deal expires this summer.

Reports over the weekend claimed that the 30-year-old had already signed a pre-contract agreement with Barcelona, but both Liverpool and the Catalan giants supposedly have no knowledge of such a deal.

However, Wijnaldum's contract situation remains unchanged, and as things stand he will be free to leave Anfield in just over three months' time when his existing deal runs out.

According to The Mirror, Jurgen Klopp's team are now resigned to losing their midfield lynchpin after he refused to put pen to paper on a new deal, and Barcelona will be his next destination as he prepares to reunite with Ronald Koeman.

The report adds that the Netherlands international was not impressed with the offer that Liverpool had tabled, but the powers-that-be at Anfield have strict financial limits when it comes to renewals for players aged 30 or over.

With Wijnaldum seemingly destined to depart, the Reds have been linked with the likes of Denis Zakaria, Renato Sanches and Sander Berge to bolster their midfield for the new season.
