A report claims that Manchester United may have to give Mauricio Pochettino full control of transfers if they are to land their first-choice managerial target.

Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly demanded full control of transfers if he is to take over as the next manager of Manchester United.

The 47-year-old, out of work since being sacked by Tottenham Hotspur in November, is the leading contender to succeed under-fire boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.

United are down in fifth in the Premier League and are supposedly lining up Pochettino to take over at the end of the campaign.

According to the Daily Star, however, the Argentine is eager to avoid the same behind-the-scenes issues encountered at Tottenham should he replace Solskjaer.

Pochettino will ask to oversee all transfer business, it is claimed, in order to avoid more flop signings being brought in.

The ex-Espanyol and Southampton boss hinted last week that he is holding out for a Premier League or La Liga job offer.
