Jamie Redknapp: 'David Moyes sacking won't fix Manchester United'

Jamie Redknapp claims that sacking David Moyes won't solve all of Manchester United's problems.

Jamie Redknapp has claimed that sacking David Moyes won't solve all of Manchester United's problems.

Widespread reports surfaced on Monday, claiming that the Red Devils hierarchy were preparing to dismiss the Scot after watching him preside over a miserable season.

However, the former Liverpool captain has said that getting rid of Moyes will not restore them to the summit of English football immediately.

Writing in his Daily Mail column, he said: "For Moyes, it would always have been better to be the man who followed the man. But United cannot think a new manager alone will solve their problems.

"They don't need a Band Aid — they need major surgery: five or six new players, an injection of pace, an overhaul of playing staff.

"He hasn't been sacked yet, but he deserves better than this. Where is United's defence of his position?"

The champions are currently seventh in the table, and have lost 11 games this term – their most ever in the Premier League era.
