Roma reportedly reach an agreement with Arsenal and Manchester United to keep hold of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Chris Smalling until the season can be finished.

Roma are reportedly set to keep hold of Manchester United's Chris Smalling and Arsenal's Henrikh Mkhitaryan beyond June 30.

Smalling has impressed in the heart of Paulo Fonseca's defence while on loan this season, and Roma are allegedly keen on signing the defender on a permanent basis this summer.

Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan has struggled with injuries during his temporary spell in Italy, but has managed to chalk up six goals and three assists from 13 Serie A outings.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the duo will remain among the ranks at Roma until the season is able to reach a conclusion amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Italy has been one of the worst affected countries during the outbreak of COVID-19, but there is optimism that the 2019-20 Serie A campaign could resume next month.

Roma currently lie fifth in the table, and the Italian outfit's chances of striking a permanent deal for either player will likely be affected by Champions League qualification.
