Mauricio Pochettino will leave his role as Paris Saint-Germain head coach this summer, according to a report.

Mauricio Pochettino and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly come to an agreement that will see the Argentine stand down as head coach of the Ligue 1 outfit this summer.

The 50-year-old led PSG to the 2021-22 Ligue 1 title, but the club's failure to win the Champions League led to suggestions that the manager could be relieved of his duties.

Pochettino, amid the growing speculation, recently said that he was keen to remain in charge of the capital giants for the 2022-23 season, with his contract not due to expire until next June.

"Before I said [that I want to stay] 100% here. Today I say 100% here [too]. I have one more year left on my contract. The challenges are there and it motivates any coach," Pochettino told El Partidazo de COPE.

"Of course I want to continue, 100%. PSG are a club with ambition. The big disappointment is the Champions League [elimination] because of the desire of the people."

However, according to the Daily Mail, Pochettino will be leaving PSG this summer, with the two parties reaching an agreement over his future during crunch talks.

The report claims that the club's last-16 Champions League exit to Real Madrid has played a key role in the 'mutual decision' for the South American to leave his position.

The former Espanyol, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur head coach will depart PSG with a record of 55 wins, 15 draws and 14 defeats in his 84 matches in charge.

Pochettino led the Blues to the Coupe de France last season before securing the 2021-22 Ligue 1 title, but the club continue to prioritise success in Europe's leading cup competition.

Zinedine Zidane continues to be linked with the managerial role at the club, but an advisor for the former Real Madrid head coach recently played down talk of a move.

Speaking to L'Equipe, the advisor said: "All of these rumours which are going around are unfounded. To this day, I am the only person who is authorised to represent and advise Zinedine Zidane. Neither Zinedine Zidane nor myself have been directly contacted by the owner of PSG.

"I also highly doubt that his majesty the Emir of Qatar, Cheikh Tamin Ben Hamad Al Thani, would go through social media or media in order to manager his business and take crucial decisions with regard to PSG's future. I'm not even sure if he's really interested in Zidane arriving."

Luis Campos has joined PSG as their new football advisor, and it is believed that Nice manager Christophe Galtier is emerging as the leading candidate for the managerial role in Paris.

Jose Mourinho has also been linked with the position, although the Portuguese is believed to be reluctant to leave Roma.

Pochettino had been strongly linked with the managerial role at Manchester United before the Red Devils confirmed the appointment of Erik ten Hag, while he had thought to be open to a return to Tottenham, but Antonio Conte is now set to stay in North London as head coach.
