Sheffield Wednesday pip Sheffield United to automatic promotion as Stevenage keep their promotion hopes alive.

Sheffield Wednesday have pipped Sheffield United to automatic promotion with a win over Wycombe Wanderers at Hillsborough this afternoon.

The Blades, who trailed their rivals in the table prior to this afternoon's action, needed the Wanderers to hold the Owls to a point at most and better their result to secure promotion to the Championship alongside Charlton.

However, despite United's 10-man 2-2 draw at Exeter, goals from Michail Antonio and Nile Ranger were enough send Dave Jones's side back to the second tier of English football.

Meanwhile, Stevenage were able to keep their promotion dreams alive with a 3-0 win at home to secure sixth place in the table. Craig Reid opened the scoring for the hosts, before Joel Byrom and Chris Beardsley finished things off in the second half.

Elsewhere, Huddersfield leapfrogged MK Dons to finish in fourth. The Terriers beat Yeovil 2-0 thanks to goals from Lee Novak and Daniel Ward, while the Dons were unable to overcome Will Grigg's first-half goal for Walsall.

League One results: Bournemouth 1-0 Preston; Charlton 3-2 Hartlepool; Chesterfield 2-3 Brentford; Exeter 2-2 Sheffield United; Huddersfield 2-0 Yeovil; Leyton Orient 2-1 Rochdale; MK Dons 0-1 Walsall; Notts County 4-1 Colchester; Oldham 2-1 Carlisle; Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 Wymcombe; Stevenage 3-0 Bury; Tranmere 1-1 Scunthorpe
