Pep Guardiola says that it is "not possible" to bring in certain players amid strong rumours that Manchester City are interested in Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has appeared to rule out a move for Harry Kane due to Tottenham Hotspur's high asking price.

Kane admitted in May that he is at a "crossroads" in his career following another trophyless campaign with Tottenham, where he has spent the last 17 years.

Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Real Madrid have been linked with the England international, but Man City were rumoured to be the side showing the most interest.

However, with Spurs seeking more than £100m for last season's Premier League Golden Boot winner, Guardiola cannot see a transfer going through.

"I imagine that if we want to sign a Barca or Madrid player for 100 million or so, Barca and Madrid will not complain," he told TV3.

"They will be delighted that it can be done, I wish now they would.

"I don't know how the market will end. I don't know, with Txiki [Begiristain], what we can do because many times you want to do things that are not possible.

"What we can do, we will do and if we do not continue with the squad we have, with which we have won three leagues in four years, we have finally reached a Champions League final."

City are in the market for a new striker after all-time record goalscorer Sergio Aguero left the club at the end of 2020-21.

The English champions are also thought to be interested in signing Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish.
