Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius has been described as having a "big love" for guns by a friend giving evidence during the athlete's murder trial in Pretoria.
The 27-year-old is accused of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, whom he shot dead through a bathroom door at his home on Valentine's Day last year.
According to BBC News, on day seven of the trial, Pistorius's friend Darren Fresco told the High Court that the double amputee said, "you can't just touch another man's gun," after a police officer handled the weapon following a speeding incident.
The court heard that the officer picked up Pistorius's gun after a car driven by Fresco, who had Pistorius and his former girlfriend Samantha Taylor as passengers, was stopped.
Mr Fresco went on to say that Pistorius fired a gunshot out of the sunroof of the car shortly after police stopped the vehicle for speeding.
The witness also confirmed that on a separate occasion Pistorius asked him to take the blame when the athlete accidentally fired a shot under a table at a restaurant.
Pistorius denies all the charges against him, and maintains that he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder when he fired the fatal shots.
