Oscar Pistorius 'told security everything was fine after shooting'

A security guard tells the High Court in Pretoria that Oscar Pistorius said "everything is fine" when he was contacted after neighbours heard alleged gunshots.

Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius told a security guard that 'everything was fine' when he was contacted after alleged gunshots were heard coming from his home, the High Court in Pretoria has heard.

Pieter Baba, who is the lead guard at the complex of Pistorius's home, where the athlete's girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was shot dead, gave evidence on day five of the murder trial.

The 27-year-old is accused of murdering the South African model, who was struck when Pistorius fired gunshots through a bathroom door at his home in Pretoria on Valentine's Day last year.

According to The Guardian, Mr Baba told the court that he called Pistorius after neighbours contacted security claiming that they could hear gunshots coming from the property.

The court heard that Pistorius allegedly told Mr Baba while crying, "security, everything is fine", before calling him back and crying down the phone without saying a word.

Pistorius has denied murder by claiming that he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder when he fired the shots.
