Michael Schumacher fans slam 'Awake!' headline

Michael Schumacher fans reportedly complain to a German magazine for publishing a story using the Formula 1 legend's picture with the headline 'Awake!'.

Fans of stricken Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher have reportedly complained to a German magazine after it published a story about the sportsman with the headline 'Awake!'.

The 45-year-old remains in a medically-induced coma since he hit his head on a rock while skiing off-piste in the French Alps on December 29.

Women's magazine Die Aktuelle released a picture of Schumacher smiling alongside his wife Corinna with the controversial headline below.

However, the article in question did not report that Schumacher had awoken from his coma, but was actually a collection of stories of people who have come through a similar situation.

According to the Press Gazette, a number of fans have sent in complaints to the publication after they read the edition.

Schumacher has undergone two operations on his brain since being taken to the University Hospital in Grenoble.
