Michael Schumacher remains "stable but critical"

Former Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher remains in a "stable but critical" condition five days after his skiing accident.

Michael Schumacher has remained in a "stable but critical condition" following his fifth night in a French hospital.

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion sustained a life-threatening head injury while skiing in the Alps last Sunday.

According to Sky Sports News, the family of the German, who turns 45 today, were updated this morning, but there was not sufficient change to his condition to merit a media update.

Schumacher has undergone two operations to relieve pressure on his brain since being admitted to hospital.
