Great Britain's Andrew Willis fourth in men's 200m breaststroke final

Team GB's Andrew Willis finishes in fourth place in a highly-competitive men's 200m breaststroke final which saw all eight competitors finish within a second of each other.

Great Britain's Andrew Willis has missed out on a medal in the men's 200m breaststroke final at the Olympic Games.

The 25-year-old was tipped to earn a place on the podium after recording the second-fastest time in the semi-finals but he left himself with too much to do and finished in fourth place.

Japan's Yasuhiro Koseki set a blistering pace and reached the 150-metre mark ahead of the world record but as he faded down the stretch, several of the field moved themselves into contention.

In a finish which saw all eight competitors separated by just 0.88 seconds, Kazakhstan's Dmitriy Balandin won from lane eight ahead of the USA's Josh Prenot.

Russia's Anton Chupkov nicked the bronze medal ahead of Willis, who finished just 0.08 seconds behind in fourth.
