Yuzuru Hanyu wins men's free skating gold

Yuzuru Hanyu wins gold for Japan in the men's free skating gold.

Japan's Yuzuru Hanyu has become the youngest winner of the men's free skating gold for 66 years after triumphing in the Winter Olympic Games.

Hanyu, who set a world record score of 10.45 in the short programme on Thursday, won with a total score of 280.09.

He had put in a disappointing routine in the free programme, however, falling twice.

Canadian Patrick Chan won silver, while Kazakhstan's Denis Ten won his country's first medal of the Games by taking home bronze.
