Sam Vokes, Junior Stanislas goals enough for Burnley to beat Doncaster Rovers

Goals from Sam Vokes and Junior Stanislas help Burnley to a home win against Doncaster Rovers.

Burnley have maintained their push for promotion to the Premier League with a 2-0 win against Doncaster Rovers.

The home side pressed in the early stages, although they were unable to create a clear-cut chance.

Scott Arfield fired just over with a long-range shot, before the away side did well to clear. Sam Johnstone then palmed away a Junior Stanislas attempt.

Doncaster's first chance came when Chris Brown headed wide from Mark Duffy's cross, but it was the home side who began to force the issue as the first half progressed.

Stanislas curled a shot wide, before he was denied by Johnstone in the away goal. Arfield also missed from a follow up after Johnstone had spilled David Jones's shot.

The Clarets broke the deadlock with just 45 seconds played in the second half. James Coppinger brought down Ashley Barnes in the penalty box, and Sam Vokes stepped up to slot the ball in.

Vokes then had the ball in the net again, but this time the referee ruled it out for offside.

However, it was two with 15 minutes left as Stanislas made no mistake after being slipped in by Jones.
