Australia rack up 50 against Ireland

Australia smack Ireland for 50 points without reply in their final Rugby League World Cup group match at Thornton Park.

Australia have crushed Ireland 50-0 in their final game of Group A in the Rugby League World Cup.

Jarryd Hayne started the rout in the first minute and Cooper Cronk stretched the lead in the 10th minute.

Quick-fire tries from Greg Bird and Brett Morris put Australia in complete control before Billy Slater added another on the half-time buzzer.

It took 16 minutes for Cronk to grab his second try of the game, and the prospect of reaching a half-century of points came ever more into focus with three rapid tries from Daly Cherry-Evans and Andrew Fifita.

The man who opened the floodgates, Hayne, was the one to round off the scoring in the 72nd minute, which gave Corey Parker the chance to convert and bring up the 50.
